Jackson, KY - Clay County's MMA fighting team was back in action on April 24, 2011 with champion Gary Jordan defending his title and Shawn Curry fighting for the XFC lightweight championship. Gary Jordan came first on the card fighting the veteran Henry Johnson in a well talked about rematch for the XFC heavyweight championship.

Lady Tigers downed by "The Rock" 47- 30

The Clay County Lady Tigers’ run through the Sweet Sixteen Tournament came to an end at the hands of the Rockcastle County Lady Rockets and their McDonald’s All-American, Sara Hammonds.

Legends caravan stops in Manchester

The Lexington Legends brought a sign of spring Wednesday (March 9), as their annual caravan made a stop at Wal-Mart in Manchester.  Fans  had an opportunity to register to win free tickets to the season opener April 7.  Legends schedules and ticket information were available, and “Big L” was on hand to sign autographs and pose for pictures.  Bret Fox of WTBK-FM broadcast several live segments from the caravan location. The Lexington team is a member of the South Atlantic League and a class A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

Lady Tigers move on in Sweet Sixteen with 61 - 48 win over Lady Aces

With Kayla Smith on the bench with an ankle injury and Whitney Belle Jackson on the bench after fouling out of the game early in the fourth quarter, Alisha Mitchell put the Lady Tigers on her back and willed them to a 61 – 40 victory over the Lady Aces of Owensboro Catholic in the opening round of the 2011 Sweet Sixteen Tournament.
