KSP - Drug Arrests and Investigation / Laurel County

London, Ky. (December 07, 2016) – On Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at approximately 5:00 PM, Trooper Ben Graves received information of the whereabouts of Michael S. McCormick Jr, 32, of Corbin which had felony warrants out for his arrest and was staying at a residence on Terrell Road in the Corbin community of Laurel County.

Trooper Graves, along with Troopers from Post 11 arrived at the residence and located McCormick Jr in the back bedroom and made entry into the residence. While inside the residence Troopers observed several firearms along with drug paraphernalia. McCormick Jr as well as his father Michael S. McCormick Sr, 51, of Corbin who also resides at the residence is both convicted felons. Based on this information a search warrant was obtained for the residence. During the search Troopers located 4.3 oz of suspected crystal methamphetamine, $1,816.00 in US currency, 5 hand-guns, 4 long-guns and other drug paraphernalia.

Arrested at the scene was:

Michael McCormick Sr and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense, 5 counts of Possession of hand-guns by Convicted Felon, 4 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Michael McCormick Jr and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense, 5 counts of Possession of hand-guns by Convicted Felon, 4 counts of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and other arrest warrants.

Robin L. Lawson, 29, of Corbin and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Joseph B. Money, 58, of Corbin and charged with several arrest warrants.

All four were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Trooper Ben Graves is continuing the investigation. He was assisted by Troopers from Post 11, ATF Agent Todd Tremaine, Corbin Police Department and the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
