Bizarre 911 call results in arrest

Whitley County, KY (WCSD Press Release | Dec 19, 2017) - Around 1:30 a.m. December 16, 2017, Deputy Brian Hensley responded to a disturbance at a Hwy. 904 residence.

Dep. Hensley was advised that a male subject dialed 911 claiming that people in his front yard were committing murder and rape and threatening arson.

Dep. Hensley and Kentucky State Police Trooper Matt Ridener arrived to find nobody outside of the residence. There were signs of activity inside the home, and while Dep. Hensley was at the back door, he heard a loud noise coming from the front of the home.

It was determined that 27-year-old Matthew W. Thomas had broken out a window and fled the home armed with a knife.

Thomas was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. He was charged with second-degree fleeing or evading, carrying a concealed weapon, public intoxication, prescription of a controlled substance not in its original container and three counts of illegal possession of a legend drug.
