KSP Charges Madison Co. Man With Attempting To Procure A Minor For Sex Online

(Richmond, Ky.)- On May 26, 2015, at approximately 5:10 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by the Richmond Police Dept., arrested Owen P. Taylor, 49, on charges related to prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer for sex.

Taylor was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect posting on a popular website. During the conversations, Taylor expressed his interest in performing sexual acts with a minor.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Taylor's residence in the evening hours of May 26, 2015. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP's forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Taylor is currently charged with one count of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor/police officer for sex. The charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison.

Taylor was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
