Fatal Fire in Harlan County

(Harlan, Ky.) – On May 18, 2016 at 2:53 a.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call of a structure fire at 1535 KY 413 in the Baxter community of Harlan County.

Upon the fire department’s arrival, a white male was located inside the residence deceased. KSP Troopers and Detectives were dispatched and arrived on the scene at 4:39 a.m. The victim, Jerry Robert Langley, 25 years of age, was deceased inside the residence.

The owner of residence was the individual who discovered the structure on fire.

Mr. Langley was removed by members of fire department, KSP and coroner’s office. An autopsy was scheduled at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort. KSP Arson Investigator Josh Bunch and Deputy State Fire Marshall were also called to scene.

Case is under investigation by Detective Josh Howard. Also assisted at the scene were Detective Kevin Miller, Detective Josh Cox, Tpr. Jimmy Halcomb and Lt. Randy Surber.
