(LONDON, KY) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London has received a report of a scam / fraud that attempts to target victims through a telephone text message stating their Credit / Debit card a has been de-activated and gives a telephone number to contact.

Upon calling the number the intended victim is asked to enter their 16 digit card number.

The Kentucky State Police, Post 11 urges the public to remember that:

• Banks have your account numbers and personal data and would not ask for it.
• Never give personal information out over the phone unless you have called your bank for specific services that you are requesting.
• Immediately, call or visit your bank to report suspicious activity that concerns you.
