Meth Lab Investigation and Arrest / Whitley County
(LONDON, KY.) – On Thursday, February 2, 2012 at approximately 11:21 PM KSP Troopers Les Moses and Tony Dingess observed a strong chemical odor, while on route patrol, on KY 779 near Bear Branch Road in Eastern Whitley County.
The Troopers continued to patrol through the area in an attempt to locate the source of the odor and discovered it emanating from an open window at an apartment building located on KY 779. Upon making contact with the resident, further investigation resulted in the discovery of a Methamphetamine lab inside the apartment.
Arrested at the scene was William L. Mays, 36, of Rockholds, charged with one count of Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st degree 1st offense, and three counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, in reference to placing other building tenants in danger.
Mays was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
