Attorney General Conway Announces Appeals Court Ruling in Michael Carneal Case

Attorney General Jack Conway and his Office of Criminal Appeals announce a ruling today by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in the Michael Carneal case. The unanimous opinion upholds a July 12, 2011 ruling by the U.S District Court for the Western District of Kentucky denying Carneal's request to withdraw his guilty plea in the 1997 Heath High School shooting that left three students dead and five others wounded.

Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet awards $50,000 in Quick Start industry partnership grants

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 3, 2013) — The Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (KWIB) and the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet (EWDC) today announced the recipients of two Quick Start industry partnership grant awards. Eastern Kentucky C.E.P., Inc. (EKCEP) and the Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (NKWIB) each received a $25,000 planning grant. These funds will assist the Local Workforce Investment Boards (LWIBs) to encourage local employers and system stakeholders to plan for the expansion and/or start-up of industry-led, sector-focused and business-driven partnership projects.
