WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today Kentucky is eligible to receive $43,799,187 from the U.S. Department of Education to meet students' and institutions' needs during the coronavirus pandemic. The federal funding, delivered through the Governor's Emergency Education Relief Fund, was made available by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The bipartisan CARES Act, introduced by Senator McConnell, became the largest economic rescue package in American history.

UPDATE: CVDHD confirms new cases of COVID-19 in Jackson County, KY

MANCHESTER, KY (April 15, 2020) - As of 3:00 PM today, CVDHD reports two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 for Jackson County. Both cases are associated with Jackson Manor. The total number of confirmed cases in Jackson County now stands at thirty-four. Among those thirty-four cases, five individuals have been hospitalized, and seven individuals have recovered and are released from self-isolation.

LEXINGTON, KY (April 14, 2020)— U.S. Attorney Robert M. Duncan, Jr. sent a letter to hospital executives in Eastern Kentucky on Monday, asking them to provide information to law enforcement about individuals and companies that may be acquiring or selling medical supplies for the purpose of hoarding or price gouging.
