Brief struggle before arrest at Alvin's Gas Station / Clay County

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that: On March 23, 2019 at approximately 3:30 AM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Edwards arrested Larry Gilliam age 40 of Ice House Road.

The arrest occurred at Alvin's Gas Station when a male caller had reported that there was an intoxicated subject inside the store.

Upon arrival Deputy Edwards came in contact with the subject in the back of the store.

Through confirmation with Clay County Dispatch the subject had an active warrant for his arrest through Clay County District Court, when Deputy Edwards told the subject to place his hands behind his back, Deputy Edwards placed his cuffs on the subject's wrist when the subject turned on the deputy and began to resist arrest.

During a brief struggle and once placed on the ground the subject failed to comply to direct orders given to him.

Deputy Edwards was able to place the subject under arrest, through investigation Deputy Edwards determined the subject was manifestly under the influence of intoxicants.

Larry Gilliam was charged with:

  • Serving Bench Warrant for Court
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Disorderly Conduct 2nd Degree
  • Menacing
  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
