Man rescued in Laurel County after falling over an approximately 75 foot cliff

Laurel County, Ky -  Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Greg Poynter along with Deputy Gary Mehler were dispatched to check on the welfare of a male subject off Four Oaks Road approximately 6 miles north of London on Thursday evening March 28, 2019 at approximately 4:47 PM.

Upon arrival at the scene, the individual had exited the residence and apparently fell over a cliff approximately 100 yards from the residence.

Deputies requested fire and rescue to respond to the scene to rescue the individual.

East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire department along with London Laurel Rescue Squad, London Fire Department and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County all responded to the scene.

All agencies on scene worked together as a team to rescue the individual who had fallen over the approx.75 foot cliff, transporting him by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment of injuries.

The rescue effort spanned 3 hours. Sgt. Poynter, who was on scene, stated that in his 21 years of experience in law enforcement that this rescue was a prime example of the cooperation and teamwork that exists in Laurel County.
