Deputies Dispatched to "Fight in Progress" in Southeast Kentucky Encounter Woman Armed with a Tire Iron - Two Arrests with Multiple Charges

LONDON, KY (January 11, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Hobie Daugherty, Deputy James Fox along with Deputy Tommy Houston arrested two individuals early Sunday morning January 10, 2021 at approximately 12:33 AM.

The arrests occurred in a business parking lot off Highway 770 approximately 10 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a fight in progress complaint.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies located a male subject with an injury of his head and learned that allegedly his wife had hit him and sprayed body spray on his face.

Deputies learned through investigation that the female subject was allegedly intoxicated and had taken a pickup truck and struck a light pole in the rear of the parking lot.

Deputies were able to locate the female subject outside the vehicle in the rear of the parking lot.

She was armed with a tire iron making threatening statements toward deputies, but deputies were able to convince her to drop the tool.

The female subject then fled to the vehicle there, locking the doors and revving the engine up in an attempt to flee, however was unable to get the vehicle into gear.

Deputies had to force entry into the vehicle and were able to retrieve the suspect placing her into custody.

While enroute to the detention center, the female subject continually tried to bribe deputies to not arrest her.

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
