Office for the Blind to hold public hearings in 2014

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Office for the Blind (OFB) has scheduled four public hearings to give consumers and other interested individuals an opportunity to comment on the needs of the blind and visually impaired as well as annual revisions to the State Plan for Vocational Rehabilitation Services for 2015.

Every three years the OFB is required by the federal Rehabilitation Services Administration to conduct a statewide needs assessment of individuals who are blind and visually impaired.

The public hearing schedule follows.

Kentuckians who are unable to attend a hearing may send comments in any format (written, phone call, in person, etc.) through June 30, 2014. Comments may be sent in writing to the Kentucky Office for the Blind, 275 E. Main St., Mail Drop 2-EJ, Frankfort, KY 40621, via email to  or by fax at 502-564-2951 or call 1-800-321-6668.

There is also a community needs assessment survey that can be completed online at http://blind.ky.gov. If any reasonable accommodations for a disability are required for participation at a public hearing, please call 1-800-321-6668 by March 1, 2014.
