Commercial vehicle loaded with Hazmat fire in Whitley County

Williamsburg, KY -  On Wednesday September 16th 2015 around 7:00 AM officer Chris McQueen with KSP-Vehicle Enforcement responded to a commercial vehicle fire located on I-75 near the 12 mile marker in Whitley Co Kentucky.

Upon arrival and though investigation McQueen learned that 59 year old Charles J. Bean Seymour Tennessee was operating a 2016 Volvo tractor trailer south on I-75 when its brakes got hot and caught fire. The fire spread to the rear trailer area were the hazmat Heptafluorpropane was located.

The fire was quickly contained and the hazmat was not affected due to the quick response by Williamsburg Fire Department.

The slow lane of travel was shut down for around 2 hours while emergency crews worked to clean the debris from the roadway and carefully inspect the hazardous material.
