Deputies in Laurel County, Ky. dispatched to an out-of-control male subject armed with a sledgehammer

LONDON, KY (September 7, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed along with Sgt. Greg Poynter, K-9 Deputy Gary Mehler, Deputy Hobie Daugherty, and Deputy Dustin Saylor arrested Jesse L. Malicote age 43 of East Bernstadt on Thursday night September 3, 2020 at approximately 9:01 PM.

The arrest occurred off Highway 490 approximately 6 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to an out-of-control male subject armed with a sledgehammer there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies learned that this subject had locked himself in a shed on the property along with another male subject and refused to come to the door for deputies.

When deputies made entry to the shed, the suspect scuffled with deputies before being taken into custody.

Jesse Malicote was charged with:

  • Disorderly conduct – second-degre
  • Menacing
  • Rresisting arrest

In addition, this subject wanted on an outstanding Laurel County bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
