Fugitive from Georgia Arrested in Kentucky for Trafficking Methamphetamine

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root along with Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Jake Miller arrested Paul Thurmond age 44 of Parker Road, London on Tuesday afternoon October 27, 2020 at approximately 2:29 PM.

The arrest occurred in a business parking lot off West Laurel Road, approximately 1 mile west of London while Sheriff's investigators were conducting a drug investigation and located this subject in a green colored Ford F-150 in possession of two clear bags with a white crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine.

In addition, it was determined that this individual was a wanted fugitive on an outstanding warrant from Catoosa County, Georgia.

Paul Thurmond was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Being a fugitive from Catoosa County, Georgia

Georgia will extradite this individual back to Catoosa County.

Paul Thurmond was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Investigators for the Sheriff's office assisting included: Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Maj. Chuck Johnson, Capt. Robbie Grimes, K-9 Deputy Jake Miller, Deputy Allen Turner, and Deputy Jamie Etherton.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root (left) stated that drug investigations will continue in Laurel County.
