RECENT: "Wild Night" in Southern Kentucky as Police Make Multiple Arrests for Drugs & Other Charges / Recover Stolen Vehicles

WILLIAMSBURG, KY - On Saturday December 12, 2020 the Whitley County Sheriff's Department reported that: Whitley County had experienced a "Wild Night" which lead to multiple arrests. Sheriff's deputies were kept busy overnight covering various areas of the county.

At approximately 6:30 P.M., Deputy Chad Estep and KSP Trooper Brandon Creekmore stopped Lee White of Woodbine on Corinth Cemetary Road in Corbin for turning in the roadway to avoid contact with law enforcement.

Lee White was charged with:

  • DUI
  • Possession of Drug parapernalia

This individual was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Constable Ronnie Bowling assisted at the scene.

At approximately 8:00 P.M. Whitley dispatch received a call of suspicious activity in the area of 904 in Williamsburg.

Deputy Chad Foley and JB Coffee responded to the area and located two females and various narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

The two females were arrested and taken to the Baptist Health for observation.

At 12:33 A.M, Deputy Chad Estep stopped a black Chevy Truck driven by Clarence Egner in the area of Bacon Creek Road in Corbin.

Clarence Egner was charged with:

  • Felony DUI 4th
  • Multiple traffic violations

At 2:15 A.M. Deputy Chad Estep observed a Black Mercedes C230 traveling North on Interstate 75 at Exit 11 at approximately 95 miles per hour.

Deputy Estep ran the Tennessee plates through Whitley County dispatch and a HIT confirmation returned as stolen from Aloca Tennessee.

Deputy Estep, Deputy Strunk, Deputy Coffee, Deputy Foley, Deputy Lawson and multiple Williamsburg Police units stopped the Mercedes at Exit 15.

Both a female driver and a male passenger were arrested without incident at the Exit 15 Shell fuel station in Williamsburg.

Deputy Estep charged Mitchell Callan with:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking-Auto

This individual was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

The driver, Tammy Sanders was arrested by Deputy Mike Lawson for:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking
  • Speeding 22 over
  • Improper Lane change
  • Possession of Marijuana

At approximately 4:30 A.M. Whitley dispatch received a call of a possible kidnapping with an assault inside the cab of a commercial vehicle leading to and a non injury crash on Falls Highway.

After an investigation and obtaining video from inside the commercial truck, Deputy Jason Strunk charged Samantha Lewis with:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking- Auto
  • DUI
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Falsely reporting an accident

This individual was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Whitley County Deputies have recovered 4 stolen vehicles in the past 10 days.
