Rescue Squad Called after Deputies in Southeast, Kentucky are Unable to Awaken Driver Located in Locked Vehicle Stopped on Highway 80 with Foot on Brake & Engine Running

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with shift Sgt. John Inman and Deputy James Fox arrested Keith Wayne Wilson age 41 of Stearns, KY early Wednesday morning March 10, 2021 at approximately 3:18 AM.

The arrest occurred at East KY 80 and Rose Jones Road approximately 5 miles east of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a green Chevrolet pickup stopped on East KY 80 with a male driver apparently passed out.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they located the vehicle in the roadway and a male driver apparently passed out with the engine running and foot on the brake.

Deputies noted that all doors to the vehicle were locked and deputies were unable to awaken the driver. Deputies requested London-Laurel Rescue Squad to come to the scene to open the doors for them.

Once the doors were opened to the vehicle the driver became combative and scuffled with deputies before being arrested.

One deputy reported damage to a watch he was wearing.

Keith Wayne Wilson was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Failure to wear seatbelts
  • Resisting arrest
  • Criminal mischief – second-degree
  • Menacing
  • Numerous other violations

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
