Convicted Felon with a 9 MM Pistol & Wearing a United States Marshal Badge Arrested for Drugs Along with Another Subject in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler along with Deputy Hunter Disney, Deputy Dustin Saylor, and Deputy Brent France arrested two individuals off Highway 312 at a business parking lot, approximately 9 miles South of London on Monday evening March 8, 2021 at approximately 6:31 PM.

The arrests occurred after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of two males apparently passed out in a white Ford Focus there.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they had to make several attempts to awaken two male subjects who appeared to be passed out inside the vehicle there.

During investigation deputies located a loaded syringe determined to contain Fentanyl.

In addition, the individual who was in the driver seat identified as: Kylen Shane Lovett, was found with a loaded uncapped hypodermic needle in a back pocket which posed a danger to investigating deputies.

The other occupant in the vehicle identified as: Christopher Sammy George was observed with a United States Marshal badge attached to his belt and visible to deputies.

In addition, this individual was found in possession of a 9 MM pistol and it was learned through investigation that this individual was a convicted felon.

The two arrested individuals are identified as:

Colin Shane Lovett age 25 of North KY 3438, Barbourville, KY charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Opiates
  • Wanton endangerment – first-degree
  • Public intoxication – Controlled substances
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia

In addition, this subject was charged on numerous registration violations.

Christopher Sammy George age 37 of Mildred Road, McKee, KY charged with:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Impersonating a peace officer
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Opiates

In addition, while being lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center, deputy jailers located a crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine in the subject’s possession.

Laurel Sheriff's deputies additionally charged this individual with:

  • Promoting contraband – first-degree

Also, this subject was wanted on a Laurel district warrant of arrest charging:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine regarding an investigation by Laurel Sheriff's Detective Bryon Lawson after this subject allegedly sold methamphetamine in Laurel County

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
