Man Wanted for Rape Captured in Southeast Kentucky after Fleeing Police on Foot Following a Traffic Stop in Laurel County

LONDON, KY (February 15, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Allen Turner arrested a wanted individual, Kenneth Wayne Rose age 37,  of Fred Barnett Road, Corbin on Monday morning March 15, 2021 at approximately 11:42 AM.

The arrest occurred off Highway 312, approximately 11 miles South of London after Deputy Turner attempted a traffic stop on a silver colored BMW car for a speeding violation.

During the stop the occupant of the vehicle was evasive giving false information to Deputy Turner concerning his identity.

During the subsequent investigation, Deputy Turner found the occupant in possession of Methamphetamine at which time the suspect fled on foot approximately 1/2 mile and following a brief scuffle was taken into custody.

It was learned through investigation that Kenneth Wayne Rose was wanted on a Laurel County indictment warrant for rape.

Kenneth Wayne Rose was charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot
  • Resisting arrest

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Rape – first-degree
  • Persistent felony offender I

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
