Man Fleeing Police in Kentucky Discards Plastic Bags of Suspected Methamphetamine, Suboxone and Marijuana

LONDON, KY (March 30, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Landry Collett along with Deputy Justin Taylor arrested Junior Wayne Asher age 51 of Sowders Ln., London early Tuesday morning March 30, 2021 at approximately 6:37 AM.

The arrest occurred in a business parking lot off Hal Rogers Parkway approximately 2 miles west of London after deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle there.

As the vehicle stopped deputies observed the occupant exit the vehicle and deputies attempted to make contact with the individual who fled on foot.

During the foot chase deputies observed the suspect disregarding plastic bags from his pocket. As the suspect fell down an embankment, deputies were able to take the suspect into custody.

Deputies located suspected Methamphetamine, Suboxone, and Marijuana in the discarded bags.

In addition, the suspect was found in possession of digital scales and a glass smoking pipe containing suspected Meth residue.

Junior Wayne Asher was charged with:

  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot
  • Resisting arrest
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a controlled substance – second-degree
  • Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of Marijuana

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
