Man arrested in Knox County, Kentucky in Connection to Theft of Copper Plumbing from a Church

BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Knox County, Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Monday, September 6, 2021 at approximately 2:05 A.M. while on patrol in Gray, Knox County Deputy Jesse Smith observed Clarence Gilbert walking on Highway U.S. 25 East at Cross Road Market.

Deputy Jesse Smith arrested Clarence Gilbert age 43 of Gray, KY without incident charging him with:

  • Criminal Mischeif-1st Degree
  • Criminal Trespassing-3rd Degree
  • Giving Officer False Identifying Information

These charges were the result of Sgt. Carl Frith’s investigation into the theft of copper plumbing from the Living Water Church in Gray that occurred on August 26, 2021.

Clarence Gilbert was also wanted on:

  • A Kentucky Parole Board Warrant for a Parole Violation
  • A Knox County Bench Warrant for failure to pay the fine on a Criminal Trespass-3rd Degree charge

This individual was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
