Arrest with Stolen Firearms Recovered during Suspicious Vehicle Investigation in Pulaski County, Kentucky

SOMERSET, KY - On Friday, September 10, 2021 Sheriff Greg Speck reported that on Monday, August 30, 2021 at approximately 12:27 AM, Edward Lee Crabtree, age 42, was arrested by Deputy Tan Hudson with the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.

On August 30, 2021, around 12:09 AM, Deputies Tan Hudson and Marcus Harrison responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle on Ringgold Road with a man standing around it.

When Deputies arrived, they contacted Edward Lee Crabtree and recognized that Mr. Crabtree was under the influence of some type of intoxicant. Deputy Hudson then saw that Mr. Crabtree was armed with a handgun on his side. After seizing that handgun, he found another in his waste band.

Through a computer check, Deputy Hudson determined that Mr. Crabtree was a convicted felon. Mr. Crabtree was arrested by Deputy Hudson.

Edward Crabtree of Somerset, KY was charged with the following:

  • Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon
  • Improper Display of Registration Plates
  • No Registration Plates
  • Failure to Have Required Insurance

On August 29, 2021, at approximately 9:48 PM Deputy Ryan Jones had investigated a burglary complaint on Omega Park Road. The victim stated that when she arrived home on the 29th she discovered that someone had broken into her residence. She told Deputy Jones that two firearms were missing as well as ammo for the two firearms.

When Deputy Tan Hudson checked the firearms with dispatch on the 30th, Deputy Ryan Jones noticed that the firearms description matched the ones stolen from the victim in the break-in that he had investigated on the 29th.

Edward Crabtree was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for processing in the Impaired Driving traffic stop.

At the Hospital, Deputy Ryan Jones continued his investigation into the break in by interviewing Mr. Crabtree. Through his investigation, he was able to determine that the guns that Deputy Hudson had found on Mr. Crabtree were the ones taken from the burglary on Omega Park Road.

Edward Crabtree was charged because of Deputy Jones investigation with the following:

  • Burglary, 1st Degree
  • Theft by Unlawful Taking, Firearm

Mr. Crabtree was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center where he remains as of this press release.
