LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Brian France arrested Clifford Eugene Summers age 55 of Louisville on Monday afternoon December 6, 2021 at approximately 2:47 PM.
The arrest occurred at a business off KY 80 approximately 1 mile west of London after deputies were dispatched to an out-of-control subject there being very violent and refusing to leave the business.
Upon arrival at the scene Deputy France conducted an investigation and determined that the suspect was extremely intoxicated. Upon attempting to ID the subject, he became very irate creating a disturbance there.
As Deputy France attempted to ID the subject he began swinging at Deputy France.
K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler arrived at the scene and assisted Deputy France, taking the suspect into custody.
Clifford Summers was charged with:
- Alcohol intoxication in a public place
- Menacing
- Resisting arrest
This individual was also determined to be wanted on an outstanding warrant and was charged on a Jefferson District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Criminal trespassing – second-degree
- Promoting contraband – first-degree
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
