Victim with Serious Injuries airlifted after escaping Captivity in Knox County, Kentucky

BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 7:12 P.M. Deputies responded to a call about a woman that had been assaulted by her boyfriend identified as 54-year-old Mickey Grubb of Hinkle, KY.

Once on scene at the Grubb Cemetery Road residence, Deputy Elijiah Broughton observed that the victim’s eyes were both swollen shut and severely bruised.

The woman was also bruised and swelling on her right arm and multiple other parts of her body.

It was also determined that Grubb wrapped an extension cord around the victim’s throat rendering her unconscious.

The victim stated that Grubb held her in the home against her will for two days and that she was finally able to leave the home after climbing out of a window then running to the neighbor’s home for help.

Deputy Broughton observed that a lock had been placed on a door restricting the victim from leaving the home.

The victim was airlifted to UK hospital with serious physical injuries to her head and face.

Grubb was located at a store on KY 1304 approximately a mile from his residence and taken into custody.

Mickey Grubb was arrested and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center charged with:

  • Assault - 2nd degree (domestic violence)
  • Unlawful imprisonment - 1st degree
  • Strangulation - 1st degree

This individual is being held on a $50,000 CASH bond.

Due to suspected drugs being found in the residence charges are pending.
