DRUGS/WARRANT ARRESTS DURING TRAFFIC STOP IN WHITLEY COUNTY, KENTUCKY

WILLIAMSBURG, KY - On Friday, March 8, 2024, the Williamsburg Police Department (WPD) reported that WPD Officers discovered approximately twenty-one grams of suspected Methamphetamine during a traffic stop Thursday evening.

Two subjects identified as Jonathan Thomas Terry, 48, of Richmond, KY and Melissa Bennett, 41, of Williamsburg , KY were arrested by WPD Officer Bryson Lawson and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Jonathan Terry was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree over two grams of Methamphetamine
  • Drug Paraphernalia

Also, Terry had an active warrant for trafficking Methamphetamine stemming from a WPD investigation in November of 2023.

Melissa Bennett was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance 1st degree-Methamphetamine
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Public intoxication
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Resisting arrest

In addition, Bennett was served with a warrant for non-payment of fines.

Sgt. Elijah Hunter and Officer Chad Foley assisted with the investigation.
