Arrest at Scene of a Reported Intentionally set Fire at a Residence on KY Hwy 1247 in Pulaski County, Kentucky

SOMERSET, KY - According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office: Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of a Somerset man after deputies responded to a report of an intentionally set fire at a residence on KY 1247.

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at approximately 3:24 pm, Deputy Joey Johnson was called to 2626, KY 1247, Somerset, KY regarding a structure fire at the residence.

Once on scene, Deputy Johnson was notified by Somerset Police that they had located the individual who allegedly set the fire.

The man, identified as D’Marion M. Splunge, 21 years of age, Somerset, KY, was determined to be a resident of the home, but not the owner.

Although there was no one inside the home at time the fire was started, multiple fire professionals were required to make entry into the burning structure to extinguish the flames.

D’Marion Splunge was arrested from the scene and charged with:

  • Arson 2nd Degree
  • Seven counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree

Splunge was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Somerset Police Department, the Somerset Fire Department, Parkers Mill Fire Department and the Somerset-Pulaski County EMS.

The investigation is ongoing by Deputy Johnson.
