Cyclists in Kentucky Will See A New Challenge in 2013 – the Kentucky Century Challenge

FRANKFORT, Ky. – 2013 will give cyclists in Kentucky a new challenge – the Kentucky Century Challenge.

The Kentucky Century Challenge brings together four of the most popular cycling events in Kentucky: The Redbud Ride in London, the Horsey Hundred in Georgetown, the Preservation Pedal in Frankfort and the Old Kentucky Home Tour in Louisville.

Justice Cabinet awards more than $7.9 million in grants

Frankfort, KY – Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary J. Michael Brown has announced that the cabinet awarded more than $7.9 million in grants to crime victim groups in 2012. The money was allocated through the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

OxyContin Trial Will Be Held in Kentucky

Attorney General Jack Conway announced today's decision by the U.S Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit that affirms a lower court's order returning a 2007 lawsuit against Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of OxyContin, to Pike Circuit Court in eastern Kentucky. Shortly after the case was filed, Purdue Pharma removed the case to the Southern District of New York. The two-judge panel today upheld the prior decision of the U.S. District Court, which allowed the Attorney General's motion to proceed with the litigation in Pike Circuit Court where it was originally filed.
