FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Commonwealth Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) activated yesterday at 3:00 P.M. at Level III to monitor the winter storm crossing the Commonwealth through afternoon today. Level III staffing includes state and private sector partners and other officials.

A mix of ice and snow will make traveling conditions very difficult. Citizens are asked to refrain fromcontacting local posts about current road conditions. There’s still time to get signed up before 2014 open enrollment ends March 31
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Signups for affordable health insurance are still going strong in the Commonwealth. In February alone, nearly 70,000 Kentuckians signed up for health insurance, or about 2,400 each day this month.
Program Targets Early Child Care Community
The Kentucky Department for Public Health (DPH) is helping numerous early care and education centers in the state improve nutrition and physical activity standards for young children by promoting targeted health policies and practices and providing training to the child care, Headstart, and pre-K communities.
Attorney General Jack Conway has taken his Keep Kentucky Kids Safe program to Mercer County, sharing his message about the dangers of prescription drug abuse and heroin with approximately 680 students at King Middle School. General Conway was joined in Mercer County by Mike Donta, a concerned parent whose son died in 2010 after a long battle with prescription drug addiction.
