Suspicious vehicle complaint lands subject in LCDC


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Daniel Grigsby along with Deputy Shawn Jackson and Deputy Shannon Jones arrested Tanya Burchett age 21 of Hwy. 770, Corbin early Sunday morning November 6, 2016 at approximately 2:06 AM.

The arrest occurred off West Cumberland Gap Pkwy. in a business parking lot after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a person in a suspicious vehicle there.

Deputies located this subject and conducted an investigation learning that this individual had an outstanding bench warrant. Deputies located this subject in possession of approximately 1.73 grams of suspected meth and one Suboxone strip.

During the investigation, this subject became combative and began screaming creating a disturbance in the area and had to be escorted to the police cruiser upon arrest.

Tanya Burchett was charged with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance – second-degree; and resisting arrest.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place.

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
