K-9 "Edge" aids LSO deputies in 4 arrests

EDGE Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Daniel Grigsby and his K-9 "Edge" (pictured left) along with Detective James Sizemore arrested 4 individuals early Friday morning November 18, 2016 at approximately 3:32 AM.

The arrest occurred off West Cumberland Gap Pkwy. approximately 10 miles south of London after deputies conducted an investigation on suspicious activity in the area and the Sheriff's office K-9 alerted on a vehicle and deputies located methamphetamine. Also deputies located 2 parole violators there.

Deputies arrested:

  • Charlee Stivers age 28 of Salt Lick Rd., Corbin charging her with possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine.
  • Marti Payne age 27 Of Roy Black Rd., London charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500.
  • Shayne Carl age 26 of Corbin charged on a Kentucky parole board mandatory reentry supervision violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision regarding a conviction in circuit court on charges of Burglary– second-degree.
  • Joshua Adkins age 34 of Moore Hill Ave., Corbin charged with a Kentucky parole Board parole violation warrant charging absconding parole supervision; failure to complete treatment for substance abuse; use of controlled substance – opiates; and failure to report to parole officer as directed regarding a conviction in circuit court for flagrant nonsupport, a Knox County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of possession of a controlled substance – second-degree; possession of drug paraphernalia; public intoxication – controlled substances; and tampering with physical evidence, a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding a charge of public intoxication – controlled substances. In addition, and a second Laurel County bench warrant of arrest charging the defendant was a no-show for drug testing regarding a charge of public intoxication – controlled substances.
  • All four individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
