By WCSD UNIT 61 | Nov 23, 2016 - Around 7:30 a.m. November 23, 2016, Det. John Hill responded to northbound I-75 near the 16 mile point, where a tractor trailer collided with a sedan.
Upon arrival, Det. Hill found a female driver and six-month-old still inside the Pontiac sedan, but neither were entrapped. The driver, Alexandria Williams, 26, of Williamsburg, reported pain in several locations, but neither she nor the infant showed external signs of injury.
At the time of the wreck, the infant was properly secured in a child restraint seat, and the driver was wearing her seatbelt. Both were transported by Whitley County EMS to Baptist Health Corbin.
The driver of the 2016 Kenworth truck did not show signs of injury and declined ambulance transport. He stated that he did not feel the collision and was unaware that a collision had occurred until his truck entered the median.
Witnesses told Det. Hill that the sedan was traveling North in the left lane. While passing the tractor trailer, the truck merged from the slow lane into the lane occupied by the sedan. The sedan was sandwiched between the truck and a small bridge wall.
Drug or alcohol involvement is not suspected.
Det. Hill was assisted at the scene by Deputy Cody Harrell, Kentucky State Police Trooper Duane Foley, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer M. Scott and members of the Goldbug Volunteer Fire Department.
