Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Cody Faulconer arrested Vernon Lawson age 43 of Elliott Ln., Pineville on Sunday night November 20, 2016 at approximately 9:29 PM.
The arrest occurred at Pilot Travel Center off West Cumberland Gap Pkwy., approximately 9 miles south of London after Deputy Faulconer was dispatched to a shoplifting complaint there.
Upon arrival Deputy Faulconer learned that the manager had recovered most of the stolen items. Total value of the theft was over $298. Deputy Faulconer conducted an investigation and determined that the suspect was under the influence – he stated he had taken an unknown quantity of Suboxone. This subject was found in possession of a syringe, a yellow straw containing residual powder, and a Suboxone container.
Upon arrest this subject became belligerent and created a disturbance there.
Vernon Lawson was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; possession of drug paraphernalia; disorderly conduct – second-degree; theft by unlawful taking – Shoplifting.
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
