LSO assists with Security for Vice President's visit / London

LONDON, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that on Thursday August 8, 2019 the Laurel County Sheriff's Office, along with London City Police and the Kentucky State Police provided security for Vice President of the United States of America Mike Pence's visit to southeastern Kentucky.

Vice President Pence visited the Manchester Campus of Eastern Kentucky University in Manchester where he announced more than $9 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help Kentucky's fight against opioids. 

Accompanying Vice President Pence was Governor Matt Bevin, Congressman Hal Rogers, and Secretary of Health and Human Services, Alex Azar.

Other Laurel County agencies assisting included:

  • London Fire Department
  • London Laurel Rescue Squad
  • Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County
