Fugitive from Virginia arrested in Laurel County also wanted in Clay County

Laurel County, Ky. (November 18, 2019) - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Jake Miller along with Deputy Joey Robinson arrested Marvin Collins age 55 of London on Sunday morning November 17, 2019 at approximately 8:00 AM.

The arrest occurred on East Laurel Rd., approximately 1 mile east of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a vehicle off the roadway in a ditch there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies located the vehicle, a black colored Nissan Sentra, with the engine running and this subject in the driver's seat. Deputies detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from the driver and conducted an investigation determining that he was under the influence.

In addition, during the investigation deputies determined that this individual was a fugitive wanted by the US Marshal Service for Probation Violation in Virginia regarding a charge of:

  • Dangerous drugs

In addition, this subject was wanted on an outstanding Clay District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of public intoxication – controlled substances;
  • Alcohol intoxication

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
