KSP investigating Fatal Collision in Knox County

Flat Lick, KY (December 6, 2019) – On December 5, 2019 at 2:49 P.M. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan received a call of a single vehicle collision on U.S.25E in the Flat Lick community of Knox County. Troopers from Post 10 responded and began an investigation.

Preliminary investigation indicates Daniel Patterson (61) of Cannon was operating a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck south bound on U.S. 25E. Evidence from the scene indicates the vehicle dropped off the roadway into the median where it began to overturn multiple times, ejecting Mr. Patterson from the vehicle. Mr. Patterson was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Knox County Coroner.

Mr. Patterson was the only occupant in the vehicle. No seat belt was in use at the time of the collision. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected at this time. The cause of the collision is still under investigation by Tpr. Sammy Farris.
