Armed Robbery suspects identified & arrested / Knox County

BARBOURVILLE, KY (December 25, 2019) - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On Saturday, December 21, 2019 Knox County Deputy Elijah Broughton responded to an Armed Robbery complaint at the A & B Market on Highway 225 near Artemus.

During his investigation Deputy Broughton developed information identifying two suspects.

On Monday, December 23, 2019 Deputy Broughton arrested Alex C. Toothman age 21 of Artemus, KY charging him with:

  • Robbery-1st Degree
  • Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree

During the arrest, Alex Toothman attempted to flee on foot. He was then charged with:

  • Fleeing or Evading Police-2nd Degree
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

He is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

Deputy Broughton also arrested Russell Toothman age 47 of Artemus, KY charging him with:

  • Robbery-1st Degree-Complicity

Alex Toothman, and his father Russell Toothman were lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

KSP Detectives Aaron Fredrick and Jake Wilson assisted in the arrests.
