Police & EMS responding to overdose report find woman and 2 children in loft

GRAY, KY (January 8, 2020) - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On Thursday, January 2, 2020 at approximately 1:00 AM Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst along with Knox EMS responded to a report of a female overdosed at a residence on Arkle Road in Gray.

After entering the residence, Deputy Ashurst made contact with Lori Havelka who was in a loft with her two children and refused to come down.

When Deputy Ashurst got her out of the loft she became belligerent and violent grabbing Deputy Ashurst by his clothing.

When Deputy Ashurst advised her she was under arrest, she started striking him and when Deputy Ashurst attempted to hand cuff her, she grabbed the hand cuffs and again assaulted Deputy Ashurst.

After a struggle, in which she kicked Deputy Ashurst, she was handcuffed and placed under arrest.

During the arrest Deputy Ashurst determined she was under the influence of Methamphetamine.

Lori Havelka age 39 of Gray, KY was charged with:

  • Endangering Welfare of a minor (2 counts)
  • Assault-3rd Degree (Police Officer)
  • Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Menacing
  • Disorderly Conduct-2nd Degree

This individual was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

Lori Havelka was previously arrested on December 10, 2019 after Deputy Ashurst responded to a domestic disturbance complaint involving a female destroying items inside the same residence on Arkle Road in Gray.

When Deputy Ashurst attempted to arrest her, she became belligerent and started fighting him.

After a struggle, Deputy Ashurst was able to arrest Lori Havelka charging her with:

  • Endangering Welfare of a minor (2 counts)
  • Public Intoxication/Controlled Substance
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Menacing
  • Disorderly Conduct-2nd Degree
