Arrest during Welfare Check on Eight-Year-Old Child

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Jamie Etherton along with Deputy Allen Turner arrested Luke Aaron Frenz age 36 of Corbin on Sunday night February 17, 2020 at approximately 9:42 PM.

The arrest occurred off Byrley Road, approximately 11 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on an eight-year-old girl who had been observed playing in her yard alone.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, they learned that the eight-year-old had been left home alone.

Social services was called to the scene and following an investigation by both the Sheriff's office and social services the father was located and he drove to the residence.

Deputies noted finding an uncapped needle in a bedroom in the residence. In addition, it was determined that the driver was operating on a DUI suspended license.

Luke Frenz was charged with:

  • Endangering the welfare of a minor
  • Driving on DUI suspended license – first offense

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
