Leslie County Sheriff’s Office Spotlights February Employee

HYDEN, KY - The Leslie County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that: Deputy Elvin Hendrix was born and raised right here in Leslie County. Elvin is a 2004 graduate of Leslie County High School.

Directly after high school Elvin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Elvin spent eight years in the Marine Corp, where he completed three combat tours, two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Elvin was very successful in the Marine Corp., he was a weapons instructor and designated marksmanship instructor just to name a few of his certifications. Elvin trained nearly 6,000 Marines in marksmanship and qualifications. Elvin also spent one year on the shooting team.

Once Elvin returned home in 2012 he was hired by the City of Hazard as a dispatcher until he started the Department of Criminal Justice Training in 2014. Elvin graduated in 2014 as a certified officer. Elvin has six of years in Law Enforcement experience and has a total of seven months service to the Leslie County Sheriff’s Office. Elvin is a firearms instructor, sexual assault investigator, elder abuse investigator and domestic violence investigator.

In Elvin’s spare time he spends time with his two kids. Elvin is an active outdoorsman and enjoys shooting guns, gun collecting, hunting, hiking, camping, rock climbing and repelling.

We are very proud to have Deputy Elvin Hendrix as a part of our team here at LCSO. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and skill. Deputy Hendrix is our “go to” guy for just about everything and if there is anything we can say about Deputy Hendrix it would definitely be that he is a team player.
