High Speed Motorcycle Pursuit In Rural Residential Area

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Allen Turner arrested Timothy Clontz age 38 of London on Friday evening March 13, 2020 at approximately 5:24 PM.

The arrest occurred on Bentley Road 9 miles west of London after Deputy Turner observed a black colored Honda motorcycle driving at an excessive speed in a rural residential area. In addition, Deputy Turner noted the vehicle had no registration plate.

Deputy Turner activated his emergency equipment and attempted to stop the vehicle however the vehicle failed to stop and fled at speeds reaching more than 80 mph in that rural residential area and traveled onto a trail until the vehicle's motor quit working.

The suspect then attempted to flee on foot and following a short foot chase and following a brief struggle with the suspect, the suspect was taken into custody.

During the investigation the driver was determined to be under the influence.

Timothy Clontz was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Reckless driving
  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
  • Speeding more than 26 mph over the limit
  • Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot
  • Resisting arrest
  • Destruction of a VIN number
  • Failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense
  • No registration plates

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
