Driver & Passenger of Vehicle Traveling 32 MPH Over Limit in Construction Zone Arrested

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with Deputy Landry Collett arrested two individuals early Thursday morning April 16, 2020 at approximately 4:29 AM.

The arrests occurred on Glenview Road, approximately 2 miles north of London after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a blue Volkswagen driving 32 mph over the speed limit in a construction zone.

During the traffic stop deputies detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from both the driver and passenger and conducted an investigation determining that both individuals were under the influence.

Arrested was:

Kevin R. Eversole age 24 of Hazard, KY charged with:

  • Speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit in a work zone
  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Reckless driving

Austin T. North age 22 of Hazard, KY charged with:

  • Alcohol intoxication in a public place

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
