Wanted Fugitive Captured in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Josh Morgan arrested Tommy R. Barton II age 42 of Williamsburg, KY on Friday morning May 22, 2020 at approximately 10:00 AM.

The arrest occurred on West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 10 miles South of London after Deputy Morgan determined that this subject was a wanted fugitive out of Tennessee.

In addition, Deputy Morgan learned that this individual had numerous outstanding warrants in Laurel County.

Tommy Barton was charged with:

  • Being a fugitive wanted by the Tennessee Department of Corrections for parole violation regarding larceny

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging;

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence and theft by unlawful taking

Also the subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Theft by unlawful taking – Auto

Also this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Did not complete treatment program/unauthorized leave regarding charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence and theft by unlawful taking

Also the subject was charged on a Laurel District Court warrant of arrest charging:

  • Theft by unlawful taking regarding a warrant filed by KSP trooper Jeremy Elliotte charging that Barton allegedly stole the keys of an individual and then stole this individual's vehicle – a 2012 Jeep Compass, drove off in the vehicle which was later found in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Tommy R. Barton II was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
