Wanted Felon Jailed in Southern KY on 12 Charges during Drug Complaint Investigation

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Bryon Lawson along with Detective James Sizemore, Maj. Chuck Johnson, K-9 Deputy Jake Miller, Deputy Brent France, Sgt. Brett Reeves, and Deputy Allen Turner arrested Ernest Wayne Wagers age 56 of London on Tuesday afternoon June 2, 2020 at approximately 2:31 PM.

The arrest occurred off Morentown Road, approximately 1/2 mile north of London while deputies were investigating a drug activity complaint there.

Deputies found this subject in possession of:

  • Scales
  • Baggies
  • A Meth pipe
  • A .32 caliber pistol with the serial number ground off

Investigators noted that this subject is a convicted felon. In addition, this subject was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants.

Ernest Wayne Wagers was charged with:

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a defaced firearm
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon

Also this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Resisting arrest
  • Menacing
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first offense – second-degree
  • Tampering with physical evidence

In addition, the subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Trafficking in Marijuana

The subject was also charged on a Whitley Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
