Police locate & recover a stolen Classic 72' Chevy pick-up in southeast Kentucky

BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On Friday, May 8, 2020 Knox County Deputy SGT Carl Frith responded to a report of a vehicle theft from a residence on Highway 223 in Flat Lick.

The vehicle stolen was a completely restored classic 1972 red Chevy pick-up valued at several thousand dollars. SGT Frith and other deputies continued to investigate the theft.

Through the investigation, on June 19, 2020 a suspect was identified and the location of the stolen truck was obtained.

On June 20, 2020 Knox County Deputies Sam Mullins and Bobby Jones traveled to the Bear Branch area of Leslie County where they located and impounded the truck.

Later that day SGT Frith charged Douglas Wayne Asher age 48 of Barbourville, KY with:

  • Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition-Auto

Douglas Asher was already incarcerated in the Knox County Detention Center as a result of being arrested by Deputy Jones for a parole violation on May 9, 2020.
