Drug arrest during traffic stop on dirt bike being operated on KY 909 after dark with driver illuminating way with flashlight

LONDON, KY (November 28, 2020) – Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler along with Deputy Travis Napier arrested John McIntosh age 34 of East Bernstadt on Thursday night November 26, 2020 at approximately 9:15 PM.

The arrest occurred off KY 909 approximately 8 miles north of London after deputies conducted a traffic stop on a dirt bike being operated on KY 909 after dark whose driver was illuminating his way with a flashlight. The vehicle had no tail lights.

During the investigation the operator was determined to be under the influence and was found in possession of:

  • Gabapentin
  • A Meth pipe
  • Marijuana

John McIntosh was charged with:

  • Careless driving
  • Insufficient headlamps
  • No registration plates
  • No operator's license
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a Controlled substance
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Public intoxication – Controlled substances

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
