Wanted subject arrested at motel in southern Kentucky

LONDON, KY (November 28, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor along with shift Sgt. John Inman, Deputy Landry Collett, and Deputy James Fox arrested Christopher Lee Mason age 33 of Laurel Whitley Rd., Corbin early Friday morning November 27, 2020 at approximately 3:11 AM.

The arrest occurred at a motel in southern Laurel County approximately 10 miles South of London after deputies developed information on the whereabouts of a male subject wanted on a warrant.

While in the hallway deputies observed the suspect outside his room and upon approaching him, the suspect ran back into his room and locked the door refusing to open the door.

A short time later deputies were able to make entry to the room and found the suspect in possession of:

  • Plastic bags containing white residue
  • Digital scales
  • Hypodermic syringes throughout the room

Deputies noted that a room window was open and upon searching beneath the window area outside deputies located a Glock 9 mm pistol laying in the grass and through investigation learned that the suspect was a convicted felon.

Christopher Lee Mason was charged with:

  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon

In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Contempt of court

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
