Sheriff John Root Reports Results of "Click it or Ticket" Safety Campaign in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY (December 1, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root reports that he and his deputies supported the  "Click it or Ticket" campaign designed to help save lives, and prevent serious injuries in traffic crashes.

The last two week period (Nov. 16th through Nov. 29th, 2020) and especially the Thanksgiving weekend, Laurel County Sheriff's Deputies were out in full force patrolling Laurel County roads, and also conducting Traffic Safety Checkpoints all over Laurel County in an attempt to make the roads safer for people and their families.

During this campaign, Laurel Sheriff's Deputies made 8 arrests for DUI and ssued numerous citations to violators including:

  • Seat belt citations
  • Child restraint violations
  • Speeding violations
  • Other traffic violations

No fatal traffic crashes were reported.

Although this huge law enforcement presence was a huge success, and could be intimidating, the "Click It or Ticket" campaign was not about writing tickets…

It was about:

  • Increased awareness
  • High visibility
  • Saving lives

Anyone can be involved in a crash at any time.  So please, always buckle up, and always make sure your friends and family do the same.
