Fatal Shooting in Southeast Kentucky on Porch of the Victim's Ex-girlfriend

LONDON KY (December 29, 2020) — Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel is investigating a shooting which resulted in a fatality off NU Way Trail approximately 5 miles east of London early Tuesday morning December 29, 2020 at approximately 1:00 AM.

Laurel Sheriff's investigators report that apparently the victim went to the residence of his ex-girlfriend regarding a child custody issue where an argument occurred between the victim and his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend on the front porch of the residence resulting in the boyfriend firing shots at the victim.

The victim was apparently shot multiple times causing a fatal injury. Detectives have recovered a pistol at the scene.

Sheriff's investigators arrested David Sizemore age 27 of London charging him with:

  • Manslaughter – first-degree

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

The victim was identified as:

Daniel Austin Binder age 31 of London – Pronounced deceased at the scene by Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling. An autopsy will be conducted in Frankfort on the 29th.

Assisting at the scene for the Laurel County Sheriff's office was lead investigator – Detective Taylor McDaniel along with Lieut. Chris Edwards, Detective Robert Reed, K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler, Deputy Hunter Disney, Deputy Brent France, Deputy Hobie Daugherty, and Deputy James Fox.

Also assisting was the Laurel County Coroner's office and Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
