68 Year-old Tennessee Man Arrested for Meth at Crash Scene on I–75 in Kentucky

LONDON, KY (January 27, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor along with Deputy Landry Collett arrested Richard L. Shadwick age 68 of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee early Wednesday morning January 27, 2021 at approximately 12:51 AM.

The arrest occurred on I–75 approximately 1/2 mile north of London after deputies were dispatched to a noninjury traffic crash there.

When deputies arrived at the scene they learned through investigation that allegedly the vehicle involved in this traffic crash had been complained on earlier in southern Laurel County traveling northbound on I–75. Reportedly this vehicle was being operated in a reckless manner there.

During deputie's investigation of the driver, Sheriff's investigators found the driver in possession of:

  • Suspected Methamphetamine
  • A glass smoking pipe with white residue

In addition, the driver was determined to be under the influence.

Richard L. Shadwick was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
  • Possession of a Controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia
  • Reckless driving
  • Failure to produce insurance card

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
